Delicious New Cafe!

Check out Cafe 37! Review compliments of Baldwin Park's Tom Huffstetler:

"Blake and Andrea have opened (quietly so far) an outstanding little café in the carriage house next(east) to the large yellow antique shop at the corner of 37th and Abercorn St. …AMAZING food-- lunch and brunch are fantastic- I’ve had both. Outdoor garden picnic tables are available too.

The huge Kurobuta Pork sandwich I had yesterday- prime grade pork- was a mouth-gasm. He cures the pork in-house with salt/sugar/spices then renders it in duck fat and then applewood smokes it! It’s then dressed with homemade honey-dijon and truffle oil! …sublime and incredible. Oyster stew in a bread bowl looks delicious; Anson Mills stone-ground grits are creamy and served with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and bacon… Salads, Escargot, and a few other items round out the menu.

They both worked at George’s until recently. Blake has sous-chef’d at Sapphire Grill, George’s of Tybee and in France as well- he has a passion for great food so please check them out. Beer and wine license possible in the future."

Earth Day Recycling Comes to Baldwin Park

This year Earth Day will be celebrated in Forsyth Park on Saturday, April 19th. And you can participate in the City's special Earth Day recycling efforts without leaving the comfort of your home!

While spring cleaning this year, be sure to set aside cell phones and chargers, paint (latex and oil only), tires, batteries, newspaper, plastics #1 and #2, aluminum, electronics and used items for Goodwill, eye glasses and printer cartridges.

If you have any of these items be sure to set them out on your curb by 10:00 am that morning. We will come by and get everything from your yard. In 2007 items collected included 3300 gallons of paint, 120 car batteries and 150 miscellaneous batteries, 500 gallons of oil, 300 tires, 300 lbs of plastic, and 800 lbs of aluminum. Help by playing your part in this great event!

GreenSpace Savannah

I have recently launched a new social networking Web site that is geared toward green Savannahians (i.e., anyone in the area interested in environmental issues, running a green business, etc.).

The site was developed by myself and another SCAD staff member, who is also a SCAD alumnus. With interest in green issues seeming to explode in Savannah these days, we thought it was important to have a way for those with these common interests to stay connected and be able to build ongoing networks.

Hopefully, through the power of the Internet, we can enhance our community organizing and accomplish those important (and sometimes elusive) goals that many of us share.

I know many BPNA members are very interested in such issues, so I wanted to personally invite all of you to join. It is, of course, free.

The URL is http://www.greenspacesavannah.org/
